Overview
The Rack Interface Module (RIM) serves as the primary interface for the 3500 rack. It utilizes a proprietary protocol to configure the rack and retrieve machinery data. The RIM must be installed in slot 1 of the rack, adjacent to the power supplies.
The RIM is compatible with Bently Nevada's external communication processors, including TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX. Although the RIM provides essential functions for the entire rack, it is not part of the critical monitoring path and does not impact the normal operation of the monitoring system. Each rack requires one RIM.
