Overview
The Engineering Card is utilized in a System 57 rack to provide a common interface for commissioning and operating each fitted control card. It is always installed in the right-hand slot of the rack and offers the following functions:
Front Panel Features:
- Tactile Push-Buttons: Operate various functions.
- LED Indicators: Display rack power and communications status.
- Mini DIN Socket: Connects to a serial printer, computer, or an Engineering Key.
Functions of the Engineering Card:
- Power Routeing: Directs the 24V DC input from the DC Input Card to the rack's backplane.
- Serial Communications Controller: Manages and monitors backplane serial communications.
- Time and Date Reference: Provides a time and date reference.
- RS232 External Engineering Interface: Facilitates external communication.

- Alarm Settings: Sets and tests alarm set points.
- Sensor Signal Adjustments: Adjusts zero, span, and life monitoring values.

- Control Card Alarm Inhibit: Enables or disables alarm inhibit functions.
- System Clock: Checks and adjusts the system clock.
- Self-Validation: Validates the operation of circuit components, software, and backplane communications.
